Sour Apple

I agree Apple's really been dropping the ball as of late, and I don't even own any of their products. I think what Apple is finding out is that being in the mobile device industry, and having ony one offering, is kind of a losing battle. People are used to getting their devices on the cheap because the mobile plans are where all the money is. The iPhone definitely broke the ground, but there's no way Apple can expect to fend off companies like Samsung who can whip up their own iPhone and sell it for much cheaper, and with better features. I read an interesting article in Wired a while back about how the iPhone has failed to take of in Japan because it's still light years behind what consumers can get there.

I think the only thing Apple really has going for it now is iTunes, in terms of a viable source of revenue. Their computers are just way too over-built and over-designed for the average consumer, even the iMac. Especially now that you can buy a netbook for the price of a top of the line cell phone nowadays and most of your applications are online. To top if all off, the only person capable of leading the type of innovation to make Apple turn the corner could very well be dead for all anyone knows.
If I were Jobsy, I'd be pissed. These new guys are running the company into the ground. But I dunno, maybe Jobsy is still the one behind it...

The fact of the matter is, ever since the iPod, the focus of the company is shifting towards gimmicky tech. The core of the business for Apple, used to be the Macintosh. But clearly, they've decided that continuing down that track is a losing game. They haven't beat out Windows in like 20 years of the Macintosh. So they went in a different direction...

Now it's all about disposable gadgets and it's sad to see a company like Apple turn sour (no pun intended). Sure, they'll make micro-upgrades to their line of computers, but I don't think they're really all that focused on advancing personal computing anymore.

And with ubiquitous computing really coming to the forefront these days, fucking nickel and diming their customers is a really bad business strategy, when Crackberry's provide the same, or similar, or maybe even greater functionality, for cheaper/better/faster or watever...

Unless you wanna look like a pretentious asswipe... In which case, Apple should also invest in companies that make black turtlenecks...
